Key Account Manager (Rotterdam Office)
Purpose of the Role
The Key Account Manager (KAM) is responsible for the retention, stability, and profitable growth of a defined portfolio of strategic clients in the Netherlands.
Key Responsibilities
- Own the business relationship for assigned key accounts
- Ensure GP retention and margin stability year over year
- Prevent uncontrolled discounts or margin erosion
- Serve as the escalation point for commercial issues within the account portfolio
- Identify and execute cross-selling opportunities (value-added services: Air ↔ Ocean ↔)
- Develop account plans for each key client (volumes, lines, growth)
Opportunities
- Increase portfolio share while adhering to product margin guidelines
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders to deliver integrated solutions.
- Manage accounts according to the approved CLASS segmentation (A / B / C)
- Adapt account management intensity and expectations according to CLASS
- Ensure that the CLASS designation remains accurate and aligned with actual GP
Contribution
- Support annual CLASS reviews with the Finance and Country Manager
- Coordinate with Product Owners for pricing and monitoring
- Work with Product Owners to ensure competitive and compliant solutions
- Monitor service quality and proactively address recurring operational issues
- Ensure that clients receive consistent and professional communication.
Profile
- 3–4 years of experience in sales and/or operations departments.
- Solid knowledge of the logistics sector and international trade.
- Strong persuasion and negotiation skills.
- Graduate degree or master’s in Logistics and Transportation, International Trade, or related fields.
